The First Baptist Church of Crown Heights boasts a rich and storied history, spanning over 70 years of service to the community. Born from the prayers and vision of twenty men and women in March of 1953, the First Baptist Mission of Williamsburg held its first prayer service in the home of Sis. Ethel Brown, with Clarence Norman presiding. With the recognition from the New Hope Baptist Association, the First Baptist Mission became the First Baptist Church of Williamsburg, with Clarence Norman as its ordained pastor.

Through triumphs and trials, the church continued to grow and flourish under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Norman, Sr. Despite a devastating fire that destroyed much of its building on Monroe Street, the church persevered and eventually found its new and current home at 450 Eastern Parkway, changing its name to the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights.

With a call to both ministry and justice, the church has served the community by addressing issues such as job training, housing development, and services for the homeless and elderly. Under Pastor Norman's leadership, numerous ministers were ordained and various ministries were launched, leading to countless lives being transformed.

After the passing of Pastor Norman, the church elevated Rev. Daryl G. Bloodsaw to the position of pastor, who worked closely with Pastor Norman to implement new programs and prepare the church for ministry in the 21st century. In 2020, Rev. Rashad Raymond Moore was installed as the third pastor in the church's history, bringing a prophetic voice and guidance to lead the church through the challenges of the current health crisis.

With a proud history and a steadfast faith, the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights looks forward to its future with great expectations, becoming and striving for the more excellent way. As Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have [it] entered into the heart of [God’s people] the things which God has prepared for those who love [God].”
